Equine Assisted Learning Program

This equine assisted learning program helps disengaged and disadvantaged youth, people living with trauma, and NDIS participants to improve their communication skills, emotional regulation and confidence using the principals of natural horsemanship

I am so proud to announce that the program is now available in the Carbrook Qld Area, delivered by myself, a licensed and insured facilitator, Vera Cockrenn.

This is an incredibly simple, yet profoundly effective program using horsemanship skills to show the importance and impact that body language and energy projection has when communicating with others.

This program is not a counseling service or equine therapy. Its is specifically designed to teach communication skills and body language awareness using personality profiling. We teach participant about how their dominant personality types predispose them to certain body language and energy projection, particularly when under stress. When our participants learn techniques and awareness oof human-to-human communication, they can lower anger, lower anxiety, learn to focus, and use these skills throughout their lives. Learning the skill of diffusing is one of the many skills taught through this program that youth workers notice as having a big impact on their students’ outcomes.

Participants do not need to have any previous horse experience and will not be riding a horse.

Safety is always our first priority

Students learn how to back their horse away from them to create healthy boundaries, how to circle their horse around them on a 12 ft lead and pop them over a jump. By working together with their horse, they learn vital skills such as self-confidence, communication, emotional control, respect, and trust for others — all important skills for empowering individuals to reengage back into education, workforce, society, or their community.

The program is successful in creating positive outcomes for the participants as they are empowered to re-engage back into their education, workforce, society, and community. This not only transforms their lives, but the lives of others in their direct environment.

This program is suitable for any aged group. In particular, we work with people who may be experiencing PTSD, violence, trauma, anger issues, shyness / lack of confidence, fears/phobias and more.

Traditionally the HHH communications program goes over three weekly sessions. However, most of my clients are electing to do it over at least 5 sessions. For those who are interested, there is also availability to continue doing extended HHH sessions, beyond the initial program.

Before any sessions can commence with a particular individual, we do require a completed referral form and signed indemnity form (see
attached).

POA Workshop arrangements are flexible. Please contact Vera to discuss your needs.
  • *Tailored to your business’s individual needs
  • Max 10 pax
  • Lunch included
  • Each participant must be accompanied by their case worker, support worker or parent, who is required to be in attendance for the entirety of each session. This is one of many reasons why the program is so successful, because there is a mentor in the ‘background’ encouraging the participant to apply the skills that they learn in the program to their everyday situations.
  • Traditionally the program runs over three consecutive weeks, for 1 – 2 hours per week. Ideally, it is better if participants can do the weekly sessions, as it consolidates understanding.
  • There is also an ability to continue doing extended sessions, beyond the initial program.
  • We offer workshops for community services staff to become familiar with the concepts of the program, and to get some hands-on experience.
  • The program is suitable for any age group, so we offer a 1.5 h private adult workshop. In particular, we work with people who may be experiencing PTSD, anxiety, depression, ASD, ADHD, ADD, domestic violence, trauma, anger issues, shyness/lack of confidence, fears/phobias and more.
